Condition and Recovery of the Donor Area After Hair Transplantation

How does the healing process of the donor area proceed after hair transplantation and does hair grow back in the donor area from which the root is taken?

The bandaged neck area will remain bandaged for 3 days.

On the first day, there is not much pain due to the effect of local anesthesia. After a certain period of time, light pressures, which we call throbbing, may be felt in the nape area. Therefore, painkillers given by the doctor should be taken regularly, not only when there is pain, but at the frequency recommended by the doctor. This is especially important in the first 3 days.

In the first 3 days after hair transplantation, the donor area and the transplanted area are not washed. The first wash and the opening of the donor area are performed within 3-4 days on a day determined by the doctor.

After hair transplantation, slight bleeding may occur in the donor area. Don’t worry about the blood stains on your bandage.

The yellowish spots on the bandage are serum fluids injected just under your scalp for comfortable planting during the operation. Walking around or leaning forward too much for the first 3 days may also cause these fluids to descend to the forehead area to form edema.

Remember that lying down and resting for the first 3 days will be beneficial.

It may take up to 10 days for the wound to heal completely. Some people recover much faster, while others may be a little slower.

10 days after hair transplantation, the tiny wounds in the nape area healed, but the hair did not grow long enough because that area was shaved before the operation. Therefore, even in 10 days after hair transplantation, some scars in the nape area will continue to remain for a while.

In this process, massages to the nape area can accelerate the blood circulation in that area and shorten the healing process.

After hair transplantation, not every area in the donor area recovers at the same rate. In other words, each point may not heal in sync with each other. You will see that these image differences fade over time.

In this process, there may be numbness in the donor area from time to time, loss of sensation and numbness may not be experienced in some people, while it may last for 1-2 months in others, but it is a temporary situation.
