Step by Step After Hair Transplant Operation

Our patients usually come by doing very detailed research about the operation, doctor and clinic selection before hair transplantation. They imagine how they will style their hair. However, they do not know the details of the post-operative process and even expect more than normal.

In this article, we will inform you about the post-operative process.

Before that, you should know that hair goes through 4 stages: growth – transition – rest – shedding. For whom how and how long time these stages will pass are genetic characteristics. It may differ for everyone. What stage the hair was when it was taken from the donor area, it will be at the same stage when it is transplanted to the new recipient area.

Whatever stage the hair is at when its’s removed from the donor area at the back of the head, it will still be in this stage when it’s transplanted into the new recipient area at the front and sides of the head. It will continue in this stage, so don’t be alarmed if new hair begins to fall out, it was more than likely in the shedding phase. So don’t be alarmed if new hair begins to fall out, it was more than likely in the shedding phase.

Here’s a guideline to hair growth after a hair transplant:

First Day:

The day of your hair transplant!

1-5 Days:

These days are the most important, so it is very important to take care of yourself and your scalp. You may experience redness and swelling in both the donor and recipient areas of your scalp, and this is completely normal. This redness and swelling is likely to heal first in the donor area.

6-15 Days:

You’ll be feeling more normal about redness and swelling wise. You’ll begin to notice that your scalp starts to crust over and look dry. This is normal part of the healing process. When the crusts fall off you’ll be left with tiny little spikes of hair.

15-30 Days:

these tiny little spikes might be short lived because these are the transplanted hairs, they’re not new hairs. Then, you might notice that they start to disappear. Don’t worry! The new ones will come The new hair shaft is forming underneath, pushing the transplanted hairs out. During this time you may still see continued growth.

2 Month:

Many transplanted hairs are now in the resting phase as a result of the turmoil created by the transplant. Don’t worry if you still don’t see much activity. This timing is different for everyone. You can be sure that your hair is doing its thing.

2-3 Months:

Probably any new hair that you have seen until now, has disappeared. You probably look the same as before the transplantation. Because your hair is still growing, your transplanted area is still settling and this causes new hair loss.

3-6 Months:

You’ll start to see lots more hair growth. They’ll might be thin. But this is your permanent new hair.

6-9 Months:

You will see more and more hair growth and it will start to mix with your existing hair. You’ll be able to begin styling your hair and feel that they are much thicker. You’ll notice it has texture and they aren’t like baby hair. Your scalp should also be completely healed in this time.

1 Year:

That you’ll be able to see the full extent of the results of your hair transplant procedure around in this time. After this time, the thickness and density of your hair is unlikely to improve. But still it’ll be able to grow in length. Don’t forget that this is natural hair, and when it enters it’s shedding phase, it will still fall out.But this is normal and assuming that the transplanted hair follicles remain healthy, there will be new hair waiting there in the anagen phase.

As it is understood, it will take about a year for the results of hair transplantation to appear fully. Hair transplant is definitely a self-confidence boost.
